Undergrads Support Greening of Kensington
On March 24, Pi Lam brothers volunteered their labor to help plant more than 60 trees throughout the city on behalf of the Kensington South Greening Committee and the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society.
Brothers donated their sweat and effort, uprooting stumps, digging holes and filling them with dirt and compost. The trees were planted in front of homes and businesses in Kensington neighborhoods.
Joe Carrington, chapter Philanthropist, did a great job organizing this event and the sponsors were very thankful for Pi Lam’s participation.
The following is an excerpt of a thank you letter from the Greening Committee:
We would like to thank you for helping to make our first ever Bare Root Tree Planting Day such a success! More than 100 people participated and we were able to get all 61 trees planted in about four hours (plus a little overtime for the staking and watering crews).
Special thanks…to the brothers of Pi Lambda Phi who came to plant trees but instead drew the back breaking assignment of digging out tree stumps, sorry about that.
Sincerest Thanks and Best Wishes,
