Thanks to all the Pi Lam brothers, friends, and fans of Paul Lucas who came out to make fools of themselves at Walnut Lane Golf Course (which is not a “dogtrack” as one of our alumni described it) while supporting a great cause, the Lucas Memorial Scholarship Fund. It was a fitting celebration of a life well-lived, and a “not four years, but a lifetime” Pi Lam brother.

Four decades of brothers gathered on a beautiful day to play golf, catch up, tell stories both true and embellished, enjoy some beverages (including complimentary Mad Dog 20/20), and heckle each other for every botched swing. It was a really great time, and something we plan to make an ongoing tradition.

Many thanks to participants who came out, badgered your classmates to put together foursomes, and also to our generous supporters who helped us to raise more than $3,500 for the annual scholarship fund that exclusively benefits Temple Pi Lam brothers.

A huge round of snaps go out to the golf outing coordinator, Rick Hahn ’94, who did such a great job organizing the event and fundraising that he has been officially appointed, “Pledge Representative to the Social Committee!”

Additional thanks to our hostesses Tara Faccenda and Carolyn Hahn, who were gracious and patient in dealing with our basic learning disabilities, and deflecting the odd rant about imagined shortages of beer and weenies. 

Golf prize winners

Though many of us were happy to play a round without rupturing a disc or rolling a cart, there were a few over-achievers who demonstrated their acquired golf skills during their ill-spent corporate years.

Reception for golfers and friends

Thanks to Mike Murphy ‘03, who offered to host our post-golf reception at his restaurant/bar in East Falls, Taqueria Cresta. Golfers and many of Paul’s friends joined us for cocktails, tacos and the presentation of prize baskets.
