Steve Breslin ’04 – Shed light on Task, the latest HBO cop thriller set in Delco

Brez spent much of 2024 working as a lighting tech on the new HBO series, Task, starring Mark Ruffalo. A veteran of Philly film and TV productions, Brez does most of his work on projects in the region. He also worked on the highly acclaimed drama, Mare of Easttown starring Kate Winslet, and the Shane Gillis comedy series, Tires. As a fringe benefit of working on Task, he got all the “hooogeys” and “wooder” ice he could eat, and now speaks “Delcoese” fluently.
Chris Laskey ’97 – Riding roughshod over cancer

A hard-fought cancer survivor, Chris beat very unfavorable odds. Now he embarks on grueling bike races to raise money for the Breakthrough Bike Challenge which supports the Penn Medicine Cancer Center. He dedicated his latest ride to brother Paul Lucas ’94, who passed into the Chapter Eternal in August after a long battle with cancer.
Malcolm Kenyatta ’12 – He would walk a thousand miles…

PA State Representative Malcolm Kenyatta recently completed a five-day, 105 mile walk from Philadelphia to Harrisburg to show his solidarity with Pennsylvanians who rely on public transportation. In his live-streamed travels he spoke to PA residents who were affected by severe service cuts and increased fares. He said, “This fight is about the students stranded trying to get to class, seniors missing doctors’ appointments, and the workers forced to choose between keeping their jobs and getting home at night.”
Steven Bagell ’17 – Sports have been berry, berry good to him

Sports reporter, podcaster, lawyer, and NIL agent, Steven Bagell (far right in the picture) recently summed up his year saying, “Being in the media, covering games at the Palestra, Madison Square Garden, Wells Fargo Center, and Barclays Center and interviewing some of the top players and coaches in the sport this year has been truly gratifying. I was also able to witness the historic Big Five and cover my alma mater, Temple University.” Follow him on Twitter/X.

Albert Brest ’51 – Wrote the book on blood pressure

A retired cardiologist, Brest served 21 years as the chief of cardiology at Jefferson University Hospital before retiring at 87. He has published several books on blood pressure management and hypertensive cardiovascular disease. His wife, Arlene, recently reported that he is now 96 years-old!
Jeff Frake ’88 – Preserving historical buildings

Congrats to Jeff Frake, president of Masonry Preservation Group, whose company received a Projects of the Year Award for their work on the Atlantic City Convention Center Skylight Restoration!
